Faith – FULL!

As we approach our deadline to move, it’s easy to not only become consumed of all the “stuff” to be done (*remembering the Mary and Martha post right now!), but also to question OUR jobs to do:  Do we look?  Do we decide where?  Will God really … (you fill in the blank)?

All of these types of questions, and more, have sent me deeper and deeper into prayer – I do not want to step out of God’s Will nor do I want off His path!

Last night and this morning, as I began pondering this deeply, a wave of verses began swarming my brain in a collage-like manner:

“If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?  (Matthew 6:30)

“He replied,  ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’  Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.”  (Matthew 8:26)

“Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.  ‘You of little faith,‘  he said,  ‘why did you doubt?’”  (Matthew 14:31)

“Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked,  ‘You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread?’  (Matthew 16:8)

“He replied, ‘Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’” (Matthew 17:20) (all emphasis mine)

Though I include the text of the verses in its entirety, I purposely underlined the “little faith” comments, for that is what I had swarming through my mind!

I could literally hear Jesus’ words “you of little faith” in my mind – as I pondered that and all that I’ve seen Him do in my life, my heart began to be transformed toward a whole new level of trust … and faithFULLness! It takes faith in Him and His Word (think “belt of Truth” from Ephesians 6:14) to persevere when so much is tempting you to direct your own steps!

As my faith began increasing, more verses began swarming inside:

“Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD.“  (Psalm 4:5)

“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” (Psalm 9:10)

“To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame.”  (Psalm 22:5)

“In you, LORD my God, I put my trust.”  (Psalm 25:1)

“But I trust in you, LORD; I say, “You are my God.”" (Psalm 31:14)

“Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.“  (Psalm 32:10)

“In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.“  (Psalm 33:21)

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.“  (Psalm 56:3)

In God I trust and am not afraid. What can man do to me?”  (Psalm 56:11)

Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”  (Psalm 62:8)

“LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.“  (Psalm 84:12) (all emphasis mine)

And this verse began playing (like a song) in my head:

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trust in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”  (Psalm 28:7)

The Lord is my strength! So how do you become full of faith in the one true Lord???  Put your trust in Him!

“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to he LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.”  (Psalm 37:4-6)

Trusting in Him!

  1. Someone once pointed out to me that the Bible repeatedly tells us to TRUST in God and to LOVE one another (not to trust in one another). Seeing all of the “trust” passages reminded me of this truth. Amy
