Boundaries


Boundaries – Are they a limitation or a form of protection?  Look at the picture of the guardrail above.  Would you want to drive without it?  Driving through a twisting road, perched above a perilous cliff, would you want to risk having nothing between you and the danger just a few feet away?

Boundaries are set in our life to keep us away from things that can hurt us.  God has set many boundaries for us in His word.  And yet, many times people look at God’s commands as a restriction on their personal freedom.  Some people think that if they follow God, they will have to give up their right to choose.

But would you say that a guardrail takes away your right to drive where you want?  Of course not.  It is clear that the guardrail is there to protect you, not restrict you.  In the same way, God’s commands are there to keep you safe, not limit you. [Read more...]

How Does A Christian Deal With Change?


Right now, you may be going through a major change in your life.  It may be a new job or a job loss;  it may be a move to a new house or a new location; it could be the birth of a new child or the loss of a loved one.  It could be a pay raise or a major reduction in income.  It might be the end of an old relationship or the start of a new one.

Whatever change you may be facing, change has the power to create stress and concern in our lives.  Often, changes requires us to make adjustments in our attitudes, energy and behavior that are difficult.  Change can take away our feelings of security, tire us out, and lead to fear, doubt and discouragement. What if I feel alone?
