As I have spoken to people about how they came to know Jesus, in most cases it was not through a one-time divine revelation. Rather, most testimonies I have heard show God pursuing each person, revealing aspects of Himself in numerous situations, calling out to the person many times, before they finally responded to that call. Working to Completion

In recent days, I’ve had the sense that God will be moving in new ways in our life. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly how I know this. It’s really just a feeling I’m getting as I continue to pray, read the Bible, and observe how God is working in and around us. [Read more...]
Promises of God

I was thinking the other day about when I started this blog. A lot has happened in my life since then. But the main reason I started sharing my life online was to show that God is real. I used to live in a place in my life where I wasn’t sure that was true. I spent a lot of years looking for answers, and wasting time pursuing things that were really of no value whatsoever. God has been blessing our family this Christmas season. As we’ve gone through a year of trials and stretching of our faith, it is so encouraging to feel His presence and see the ways God has rewarded our faith. [Read more...]
How to get off the naughty list
December 20, 2010 By Leave a Comment
During this Christmas season, there is an on-going debate that has been dubbed “The War on Christmas”. Christians argue that the non-Christian world is doing everything it can to remove all mention of Jesus from the holiday that honors His birth. Non-Christians counter that including Jesus in Christmas is offensive to other religions, and the celebration is more about a feeling of peace, time with loved ones, and gifts. [Read more...]

Sometimes, it is hard for me to stay focused on what is right. When faced with challenges and not having what I want in life, it can be tempting to become discouraged. The more time I spend thinking about where I would like to be, the harder it is for me to enjoy where I am. [Read more...]
Focusing on God's goodness

I am often amazed at how people react to adversity. Recently, two mom’s that we know found out that they have breast cancer. Another good friend of mine is facing the loss of a job and is just months from losing his family’s home. We’ve spoken with a church family that is facing a prolonged battle with red tape to bring their adopted son home from Central America. [Read more...]
Do not be afraid

My family just finished watching the movie “Facing the Giants” the other day. What a great, inspiring film! There is a claim in the movie that the Bible contains 365 verses that are some variation of “Do not fear”.
After doing some internet research, it turns out it’s a bit of a stretch to get all 365 do not fear verses out of the Biblical text. Most counts place it closer to about 170-200 verses. However, rather than focusing on the number of days, God’s message is clear – Don’t be afraid! [Read more...]
The Power of Prayer
December 10, 2010 By Leave a Comment
Don’t ever underestimate the power of prayer. As I write this, I’ve just finished reading a couple of prayer requests and prayer updates from friends. I have two families we know that just found out their wives are facing breast cancer. We are connected with two families that have recently lost the grandparents in their families. Through our ministry, we receive a lot of prayer requests and find so many situations where God’s help is needed. [Read more...]
God carries us through (Parade, part 3)
December 8, 2010 By Leave a Comment
By 2pm, we were at the parade site setting up the float. The rain was still falling. With our signs made out of paper and a group of children playing farm animals and angels, we needed the rain to stop for us to go through with it. [Read more...]
