I am often amazed at how people react to adversity.  Recently, two mom’s that we know found out that they have breast cancer.  Another good friend of mine is facing the loss of a job and is just months from losing his family’s home.  We’ve spoken with a church family that is facing a prolonged battle with red tape to bring their adopted son home from Central America. My family just finished watching the movie “Facing the Giants” the other day.  What a great, inspiring film!  There is a claim in the movie that the Bible contains 365 verses that are some variation of “Do not fear”.

After doing some internet research, it turns out it’s a bit of a stretch to get all 365 do not fear verses out of the Biblical text.  Most counts place it closer to about 170-200 verses.  However, rather than focusing on the number of days, God’s message is clear – Don’t be afraid! [Read more...]

Don’t ever underestimate the power of prayer.  As I write this, I’ve just finished reading a couple of prayer requests and prayer updates from friends.  I have two families we know that just found out their wives are facing breast cancer.  We are connected with two families that have recently lost the grandparents in their families.  Through our ministry, we receive a lot of prayer requests and find so many situations where God’s help is needed. By 2pm, we were at the parade site setting up the float.  The rain was still falling.  With our signs made out of paper and a group of children playing farm animals and angels, we needed the rain to stop for us to go through with it. [Read more...]
